My Pet Dino
I used to have a dog,
Until it scarpered through the fog.
My first pet was a hamster though,
But it only lived a month or so.
I've never had a cat, I wheeze,
I'm afraid they always make me sneeze.
I wanted to have a parrot, where,
I could teach it how to swear,
But I never had the chance, you see.
I had the greatest pet, for free.
The finest pet I ever had,
Better than all I'd had before,
Was tall, green, and playful,
It was my friendly Dinosaur.
Now he always came to heel,
Not like my old dog did,
And the postman always liked him,
He never ran and hid,
He lasted more than one month,
Seldom were we apart.
We ate, drank, and played together,
Dino really had my heart.
He never made me sneeze,
I was never sick, cause of him,
And he would come with me to school,
Bullies cowered from his grin,
He couldn't talk,
So I never taught him how to swear.
But he was always there for me,
We were quite the pair,
My Friendly Dinosaur,
Taught me life lessons too,
He taught me to put the seat down,
When I'd finished on the loo.
He sat with me at tea time,
Made sure I ate my greens.
Made sure I was tucked up safe at night,
And joined me in my dreams.
I became more confident,
When Dino was around,
He knew when I was sad as well,
And gave hugs when I was down.
Unfortunately Dinosaurs,
At least this is what I'm told,
Don't play when you get older,
They leave when you grow old.
I often remember Dino,
I was always fond of him,
My tall friendly dinosaur,
With his toothy Dino grin.
